Cancellation Policy

I understand that unanticipated events happen occasionally in everyone’s life. In my desire to be effective and fair to all of my clients and out of consideration for the my time, I have adopted the following policies. Please keep in mind that any appointments you have scheduled are held for you and therefore not offered to anyone else.

-24 hour advance notice is requested when canceling an appointment. This allows the opportunity for someone else to avail themselves of my services. It is not uncommon for me to have a wait-list for appointment slots.
-If you are unable to give us 24 hours advance notice and I am unable to fill your time slot, you may be charged the amount of your treatment fee. At my discretion this charge will be either automatically deducted from the outstanding balance of an existing package, voucher or gift certificate; otherwise it should be paid in full prior to your next session.

On the other hand, if I am able to fill your time slot with someone else, you will not be charged for that missed appointment. Remember, if you know someone who would benefit from my services, you can save yourself the cost of the missed appointment AND gain incentives.

No-shows

Anyone who misses an appointment without contacting me will be considered a “no-show”. They will be charged for their missed appointment and future service will be denied until payment is made. If you have a Gift Certificate or a Voucher, it will be subject to forfeiture.

Arriving Late

If you are not present for your schedule session during the first 15 minutes (unless having notified me that you may be late), it will be construed by me that you are a "no-show".

Inclement Weather

In the event of inclement weather (e.g. ice or snow), I will make every attempt to reach any scheduled clients to discuss whether their appointment should be rescheduled.  If you are unsure of whether your appointment will be rescheduled or not and we have not spoken, please either call me, email me or use the contact page on this website.  If my colleagues and I have decided that it is safest to close our office, we will change our main voice mail greeting.

Pre & Post Treatment Instructions

Before Sessions

Before any bodywork session, it is important to be well hydrated. This is due to lactic acid and other toxins that are trapped in the muscles as well as other areas of the body. The breaking up of the knots in your muscles as well as improved overall circulation will cause these toxins to be released into the blood stream. By being well hydrated, your lymphatic system will be able to more effectively remove these toxins from your body, therefore reducing any post massage aches. It is best to hydrated throughout the day prior to your session rather than drinking a large volume of water just prior to your session.

Give yourself time to relax (if possible, do some breathing exercises) and if possible, leave a little early for your appointment to avoid the tension that comes from rushing or being stuck in slow moving traffic.

Please be sure that your body is relatively clean prior to your session. While it is not necessary to shower just before your session, if you work outdoors or have a or particularly physical job (especially during the warmer months), or have recently exercised, please make every attempt to shower prior to your session.

During Sessions

During your bodywork session, you will undress to your comfort level. You will remain draped for the duration of your session with the exception of body parts being worked on. Please note that it is more effective for a bodyworker to be working directly on the skin, however your comfort level is very important. Whether you disrobe entirely or would rather leave your underwear on, it is entirely up to you.

If the pressure is either too deep (beyond what I like to call “Sweet Discomfort”), or not deep enough, please mention this at the time to be sure that your session is as relaxing and comfortable as possible. If you are receiving a therapeutic warm stones massage and at any point a stone feels too warm on your body, please mention it IMMEDIATELY as to avoid getting burned. Precautions are taken by me when working with heated stones however some people are more sensitive than others.

After Sessions

At the conclusion of the bodywork sessions, please allow yourself to linger for a few minutes on the table. Take a few breaths, then slowly get dressed and allow yourself to ease back into reality. We have water and tea in the waiting room for your enjoyment and you may feel free to relax for a few more minutes in our office until you feel ready to reenter the “real world”.

After your bodywork sessions, be sure to continue hydrating to allow toxins to be removed from your body. If you experience any slight muscle discomfort during the remainder of the day or a day or two later, a bath with Epsom Salt will help draw toxins out of the body.

Give yourself a chance to relax and enjoy the benefits of your session. Take a nap, read a book, enjoy a nice cup of tea, go to a park or do something else that relaxes you. If you are given any “homework” to do including stretches, exercises, etc., please make every attempt to do them as directed to help facilitate the healing process.

If you have any questions after your session, please feel free to contact me via phone or email. My care and concern does not end as you walk out of the door.
